The Global Biodiversity Standard (TGBS) is pleased to announce the launch of a new TGBS Hub in Ghana, hosted by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research – Forestry Research Institute of Ghana (CSIR-FORIG). The Hub will coordinate and execute all TGBS activities across the West African region.
TGBS has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with CSIR-FORIG, marking the beginning of a strategic partnership focused on enhancing biodiversity conservation and landscape restoration efforts in the region.
CSIR-FORIG is a leading research institution, working to advance the conservation of biodiversity and the sustainable management of forest resources in Ghana and beyond. The institute collaborates with local communities, donor partners and other institutions to undertake cutting-edge research and conservation actions to protect threatened species and ecosystems. Their efforts are based on science and evidence, choosing approaches that are sustainable and ensure the needs of communities are taken into account.
With extensive experience in restoration and species recovery projects, CSIR-FORIG brings strong technical expertise and regional leadership to the TGBS network. Through this partnership, the Ghana Hub will support biodiversity assessments and capacity building for high integrity ecosystem restoration in West Africa.
We look forward to working with restoration programmes across West Africa to strengthen biodiversity outcomes, scale restoration impact, and advance high-integrity nature initiatives in the region.
