2025 has been a defining year for The Global Biodiversity Standard. An increasingly recognised global framework with growing credibility across policy, finance and practice.
As we look ahead to 2026, our focus shifts from foundation-building to scale. We will increase certified sites, expand into new sectors including mining and finance, embed assurance within restoration portfolios and national programmes, and continue strengthening our governance and financial sustainability.

The Global Biodiversity Standard is coordinated by Botanic Gardens Conservation International. BGCI is an independent organisation registered in the United Kingdom as a charity (Charity Reg. No. 1098834) and a company limited by guarantee (No. 4673175).
