Plan Vivo projects deliver meaningful, measurable benefits beyond carbon, and with their certified projects, work hard to recognise and reward these positive results, which deliver real impact for people and planet.
Poorly designed carbon projects can inadvertently harm biodiversity through inappropriate species selection, monocultures, or neglect of local ecosystems. Unlike many biodiversity components currently included in carbon standards, which often fail to rigorously measure outcomes, The Global Biodiversity Standard (TGBS) provides an outcome-based assessment that ensures projects truly protect, enhance, and restore biodiversity. The modular addition of TGBS certification to carbon projects will help create a market where verified biodiversity outcomes are valued and rewarded with better pricing.
When it comes to biodiversity benefits, Plan Vivo found that applying TGBS to PV Climate (carbon) projects can demonstrate additional biodiversity improvement.
Join Plan Vivo and TGBS for a webinar focusing on TGBS methodology and to learn how the double certification can support a vast range of biodiversity, and cultural heritage, in addition to the climate benefits, and strengthens the credibility of nature-based carbon projects with robust biodiversity safeguards.
